About this site
danenberg.family is Peter Danenberg's family history, built from a research repository of records, transcriptions and notes. The pages are generated from that data, so a correction made there reaches every page.
Privacy
- Living relatives are shown with what the family's records say about them (birth year and place, work, where they have lived, marriages, family), but never a full birth date (the year only) or a current address, and never an email address or phone number.
- Who appears. Everyone joined to Peter by a chain of family links, each labelled with how well it is attested (documented, probable, possible). A relationship known only from DNA is not shown; DNA results appear only as general conclusions, never as lists of matches.
- Removal. Anyone who would rather not be listed can ask Peter, and they will be removed from every page and from the tree.
- People who have died are shown with the facts their records give, and every fact cites its source.
Evidence
A family link is labelled documented when a record supports it, tradition when it rests only on family memory or a family tree, and probable or possible when it is a working hypothesis. The open questions list what is still uncertain.
Images
Record images on this site are US federal records (censuses, draft and service records, passenger lists, VA index cards), which are in the public domain; some show living relatives as children, with their ages. Images of Latvian archival records, Irish civil registers and other records are linked from the sources page rather than shown, until their archives give permission.
